Dr. Marino Bucci
What’s up, Squad!
I’m a practicing sports medicine clinician and educator with over 10 years of experience in performance coaching, working with athletes at all levels, from high school to professional. My educational journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Rehabilitation Sciences from The Ohio State University. I later pursued a Doctorate in Sports Rehabilitation from the University of Central Florida, where I also served as an anatomy Teaching Assistant for pre-med students and became a Nationally Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. My commitment to sports medicine led me to a residency at Ohio State, specializing in the rehabilitation and performance optimization of athletes.
Currently, I am part of the Duke University Sports Medicine team, where I provide tailored rehabilitation and performance strategies, engage in high school outreach programs, and educate fellow clinicians. My expertise spans sports science, nutrition, and strength and conditioning. I have published academic research, served as an article reviewer for the Journal of Strength and Conditioning, and hold certifications in Nutrition, Strength & Conditioning, and clinical instruction. My clinical approach combines evidence-based methods with a patient-centered philosophy, empowering athletes like you to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and peak performance.
Everyone has a motto that fuels them forward. What’s yours?
Empowering athletes to achieve their highest potential.
What’s your approach to nutrition and exercise? Is one more important than the other to you? Why?
Nutrition and exercise are two sides of the same coin. While exercise builds the foundation for athletic performance and resilience, nutrition ensures that foundation is sustainable by fueling energy demands, optimizing recovery, and preventing injuries. Without proper nutrition, even the best training program cannot achieve its full potential.
What was the defining moment that changed the way you look at health and fitness?
As a former collegiate wrestler, I struggled to balance performance with nutrition demands. The turning point came when I realized that fueling my body properly not only improved my performance but also enhanced my recovery, mental clarity, and longevity in the sport. This experience fueled my passion to help other athletes avoid the same mistakes.
What’s one thing you wish every athlete knew when they decided to get serious about their health and fitness?
Consistency is king. Whether in training, nutrition, or recovery, the most impactful changes come from sustainable habits over time—not quick fixes.
In your opinion, why is recovery so important?
Recovery is where the magic happens. Training creates stress and microdamage; recovery is where the body adapts, grows stronger, and builds resilience. Ignoring recovery not only limits potential but also increases the risk of injury and burnout.
Out of all the supplements on the market, why is Dymatize your top pick?
Dymatize stands out for its commitment to quality and innovation. With NSF-certified products and a wide range of science-backed formulations, it’s a brand I can confidently recommend to athletes who prioritize both performance and health.
What can our Squad look forward to learning from you?
Expect actionable insights on optimizing sports performance through evidence-based nutrition, innovative recovery strategies, and tailored training programs. My goal is to simplify complex science into practical advice that athletes can use immediately.
What does it mean for you to be on the Dymatize team? What is your vision for the future with the brand?
Being part of the Dymatize team means aligning with a brand that shares my commitment to empowering athletes through science-backed solutions. My vision is to enhance the reach of Dymatize by bridging the gap between education and practical application, creating a community where athletes are equipped to perform at their best.
