Game On, Squad!

What’s up? I’m Christian McCaffrey. You might know me as #23 on the football field. As a running back, I’ve experienced one of the greatest years of my career thus far, leading the league in rushing yards and scoring a touchdown in 14 consecutive games since moving to San Francisco last year.

Fitness and football have always been in my life. I was born in Castle Rock, Colorado where my dad, Ed McCaffrey, played 13 seasons of professional football. My mom, Lisa McCaffrey, played soccer at Stanford. With both parents being star athletes, I quickly became an avid sports fan and athlete. Growing up, I played football, basketball, and track and field, but I knew pretty early on that I was destined for football.

In high school, I played a number of positions on the team—Running Back, Wide Receiver, Cornerback and even Punter—and I broke several state records. For college, I decided to follow in my parents’ footsteps, and accepted a scholarship offer from Stanford. There, I played Running Back for three incredible, record-breaking years before being drafted by North Carolina with the 8th pick in the 2017 Draft.

I spent the first five years of my professional football career in Carolina where I received several Pro Bowl and All-Pro nods. In 2022, I was traded to San Francisco, which is where I call home today. When I’m not on the field, you’ll find me pursuing my passion for philanthropy or spending time with my fiance, Olivia Culpo.

Success is a long game. Stay focused. Stay positive. Stay strong. And the wins will come. Let’s do this, team!

Q: Why football?

A: Football is a big part of my family! My father played professional football for 13 seasons and all of my brothers have played football. I grew up in this game and it's always been my passion. We're a football family.

Q: Any other hobbies?

A: I love all sports. I still like to play a little basketball. Anything sports related I am always into. I am a competitor at heart! I enjoy playing the piano. I also love going on adventures and traveling in the offseason.

Q: What’s your must-have workout equipment? How about your go-to workout fit?

A: All kinds of weights: landmine weights, dumbbells, etc. I always need my headphones or a speaker. I usually wear a headband when working out as well.

Q: What’s your hidden talent? Or something that people don’t know about you?

A: I can play piano! This offseason, I played a piano solo at my buddy Zach Bryan's concert at Red Rocks. It was a blast. I think a few more people learned that I could play piano after that.

Q: What is your go-to karaoke song?

A: Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi. That's a classic!

Q: What song do you have on repeat right now? What artist is your most listened to this year?

A: Revival by Zach Bryan for sure. That’s the song I played piano to during this concert. He's one of the best artists in the world right now and he's also a friend. No matter what kind of mood you're in, there's plenty of Zach Bryan song options.

Q: You have a bye week, what are you doing?

A: Every season is very grueling, so I always try to do a mixture of relaxing and also a quick getaway with my fiancé, Olivia. Having a bye week is such an essential -- it helps break up the season to get your mind and body right.

Q: What’s your favorite Dymatize product... and flavor?

A: How can I not say Fruity Pebbles? There's so many great flavors (Cocoa Pebbles came in second place), but I have to go with Fruity Pebbles. That was one of my favorite cereals growing up and to be able to have Fruity Pebbles-flavored protein after an intense workout is like a treat.

Q: What’s your favorite way to use your protein powder?

A: You can never go wrong with any creative way to take protein powder, but my favorite way is to make a smoothie. It's filling, allows you to add any additional ingredients you want (fruit, nut butter, etc.) and tastes amazing without making you feel too full.

Q: If you could create your own ISO100 flavor, what would it be?

A: One of my favorite ice cream flavors is Rocky Road. It's such a great combination with chocolate, marshmallows and nuts. Getting all those flavors into an ISO100 flavor sounds amazing.
