Count On It
Maximize Your Gains with our Macro Calculator
If you’re not already calculating macros, you’ve probably considered it, and whether you’ve got them in check. It’s a balancing act — making sure you’re getting what your body needs — but not so much that you’re hindering your efforts.
That’s why we created an easily accessible tool to eliminate that guesswork: our Macro Calculator.* All you have to do is input your goals and some quick stats about you, and the macro calculator will output a recommendation for how you can optimize every gain.
First, a quick recap of the basics. Macros (short for macronutrients) are the three big categories of nutrients your body needs: proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. By extension, counting macros means keeping track of how many grams of each you’re consuming every day.
“It’s beneficial to have some idea of the macronutrients in your foods, so that you know what you’re fueling your body with,” explains Dr. Nicolet Finger, doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. “Think of it as being mindful of your food.” She says counting calories doesn’t tell the whole story.
“That will tell you how much energy is in food, but it isn’t very specific. Keeping track of your macros is helpful to understand the quality and substance of the food you’re eating,” says Dr. Finger.
Where to Begin
A good place to start is to think about what your goals are. Do you want to bulk up? Trim down and build lean muscle? Maintain? Knowing what you’re after is key in making a game plan.
1) Put that info—plus a few other stats about you, into the Macro Calculator.
2) The calculator will then come up with a game plan tailored to your pursuit. It will include how much protein, fat, and carbohydrates you should shoot for each day—as well as what percentage of your daily intake each should be.
3) Scroll down to see products tailored to your fitness journey.
No two paths are alike–we know that everyone on our Squad is focused on their own pursuit. That’s why we’re all about products tailored to those individual needs.
